Plain column drum

Plain column drum carved in “bigio” marble, cut at either extremities and devoid of both the original upper and lower ends. The marble selected is of a darker hue, characterised by the presence of very few streaks and stains of white colour which stand out against the dark, compact grey background. Surfaces have been reworked. A precise chronological frame is hard to define, since this marble quality has been widely employed throughout antiquity.
