Plain column drum

Plain column drum, intact, carved out of a single block of streaked “Bigio” marble of a rather light hue, characterised by the predominance of white wavy lines and stains. The column underwent thorough repolishing and reworking of both the surface and the flares. The summit of the shaft is carved with an astragal (h. 2 cm, projecting 1,5 cm), a flat fillet (h. 1 cm) and a thin cavetto (h. 0.5 cm, projecting 0,5 cm), while the bottom end is cut with a cavetto (h. 0,7 cm) and a flat fillet (h. 2 cm, projecting 0,5 cm). In the absence of any information regarding the original monumental context, it is hard to determine a precise chronological frame.
